Cozy Christmas Sew Along

Hello, I'm back with blocks 7 and 8, but block 8 is not all complete. I can't believe I ran out of white embroidery floss, so I couldn't finish the embroidered steam coming from the hot cocoa. You would think I would have white floss somewhere in this house between two crafters. So looks like another trip to Joann's.

I continued with hand applique for the Gingerbread Man, he was difficult to get perfectly flat. Plus I didn't have matching thread to machine applique. The Cozy Cocoa block I machine appliqued and it went by quickly. I'll probably machine applique all the blocks, because I'm getting a little concerned that they will fall apart. I'm still working on getting my triangles and flying geese to match up, I think that it's just luck, because that seems to be the most difficult part for me.

Slowly getting back to crafting ...

I have been working on this simple, little piece of embroidery, I think I'm going to make a pot holder or trivet with it. It's just something small that I can handle and know that I can finish soon. I have a horrible habit of not finishing projects!! Now that my sewing/craft room is coming together I want to start making (and finishing) projects again.

It's a kitty face, I haven't seen it as a finished product, I just thought it was cute and I had a little bit of scrap fabric (a little too small, but it works). I don't know where the original pattern is, with all the packing and unpacking of my stuff, but when I find it I will be glad to share. It definately is an oldie. I'm glad it's the weekend, so I can finish this up. Besides I have no real plans this weekend except take care of my daughter with a broken ankle :(.

Happy Birthday, Ange!

Today is my daughter's 23rd birthday. (yeah, I'm old) Just a shout out, I don't think she knows I blog, but I couldn't let this day go by without saying "happy birthday". She's planning a pool and bbq party for this Saturday and has invited around 30 people. Okay, ..... yikes!

Today I won an ebay auction of these cute Mexican Motifs for kitchen and breakfast nook. I've wanted for a long time and now I can't wait until I receive them. Hopefully it won't take me forever to embroider them like everything else in my life!

Crafting update

Sorry, that was another brief break from blogging, I get so caught up in other business, plus I did some extra subbing at work last week. Now we're on spring break for 2 weeks, I still have to work but no planned subbing -- just one field trip with the children to the movies (a piece of cake I hope!).

Once upon a time I use to make cloth dolls, along with quilting, home dec, dresses for my daughter (back then), etc. I use to love to make the dolls (and a few teddy bears, too), some I gave away as gifts. After watching Emily from Inside a Black Apple on Martha Stewart, I'm inspired to make dolls again! Her little dolls are adorable! She is so awesome to share her patterns, too. I had to download the pattern and start making one for myself. As for my previous handmade dolls, they've been stored away for years, but I recently took them out of hiding and wondered what I'm going to do with them - they're pretty dated.

Another WIP - oh no, not another project!

Embroidery up date on Bunny Moon pillow - almost done, just have some background satin stitching to do and then sew and stuff.

Oh, and the Quiltin' Crusiers trip. We sort of fizzled out on that Friday and never made it down to San Diego. I wished we did, I can't remember what happened, but something sort of messed with our schedule that day and we didn't have enough time before the deadline. And then like two nuts, we forgot to turn in our stamped passports for the prize drawings! Ayyyeee!

A new month

and it's been a whirlwind of a week, I'm still working on bunny moon design, although almost done and ready to start some new ones, maybe get back to some old ones. I'll try to give an update tomorrow with pics.

Sunday morning

Just dropping in again, my sewing room hasn't been much of a sewing room lately since I gave my daughter my sewing machine table. Lately she's much more active with her new Janome Heart (which we gave her for Christmas) than I have been with my Singer. So my machine is currently sitting on the floor and a little lost. Instead I'm busying myself with my latest embroidery project from Doodle Stitching.

Hopefully I can finish it today! Or tomorrow, oh wait, I'm working all day tomorrow. Well, maybe on Tuesday. I think I'll be looking for a new or used table very soon, because this can't be right!

My Monday Off

Today I took another vacation day, I requested to take off Monday's for this month. I just wanted a little bit longer weekend than normal. I'm taking a couple of more days off next month, too. We didn't plan a vacation this year, hopefully next year, so I'm going to enjoy longer weekends instead.

Besides sleeping in a little bit this morning and sipping my coffee while online, it has been a busy day. I did a load of laundry, submitted my Avon order, and read a few blogs. Then off to to the library to pick up some books I ordered, run to the bank, and then to the gym. Came home and made a large pitcher of Iced Passion Tea. I'm not really a iced tea person, but my daughter brought home lots of Tazo teas and makes iced tea regularly. It's very good.

The books I checked out are "Outdoor Kitchens" by Better Homes and Gardens (I can dream, can't I?), "Flea Market Make-overs" by BJ Berti, and "Embroidery Techniques & Patterns" by Marle-Noelle Bayard (beautiful photographs and detailed stitches). I haven't had a chance to looked at these books, but I will try to write about them soon.

Well, my day is not over yet and the sun is shining, it's beautiful outside, I have some gardening to do before it's time to cook dinner. Actually, it's really watering of plants. There's alot of gardening to do, but I don't know if I'm going to do it or hire someone to do it. That's another story.

Tea Towel Inspirations

I'm looking forward to participating in Barb's purse challenge. Right now I'm looking for the right tea towel. I have two large cloth napkins that I bought at a thrift store a few years ago. I like it's 70's design of kitchen ware, but I don't think it's considered a tea towel and I'm not sure I want to cut it up.

I love these dancing fruits and veggies;

a Crinoline Lady tea towel, but the stitching is very light and I'm afraid it won't show up;


. . . . so I'm still on the hunt for that certain tea towel.
