Whew, I'm so glad this month is starting to wind down a little. Our friends visited us from the UK on their tour of the western states. We had such a great time, I hadn't seen them in over 15 years and it's been over 5 years since my husband had seen them. We also went to Universal Studio and Disneyland. I don't recommend going to Universal in the summer, it's just too hot and crowded. I love Disneyland, so the heat and crowds didn't bother me. There are many places to sit in the shade and rest your feet - and have a cool drink! I don't think I'll bother with Universal Studios again.
Then my Mom came down and visited us for a few days. Since we have alot of family in the Los Angeles area, we were there every other day! Although, it was well worth it, I love to visit with family when I get the chance. One of my cousin's had a family get together last Saturday. Again, I saw family that I hadn't seen in years! We also made little side trips during my Mom's stay; lunch at the Shoreline Village in Long Beach, dinner at Ruby's on the Huntington Beach Pier. Oh, on our way to the airport to drop my Mom off we had breakfast at the Jolly Roger, Dana Point Harbor. That doesn't include all the eateries the dh and I went to while our friends were here, I have been eating out a lot! Needless to say, I'm back to my healthy eating habits - chicken, fish and salads!
I also celebrated another birthday on Monday, ugh. Unfortunately, the years seem to fly by faster every year. Anyway, we kept it low key this year. We had a small backyard bbq with friends and family on Sunday, which was my Mom's birthday.
I'm just glad all the "festivities" are over for the month. As for next month, so far I'm planning a bbq-pool party for my husband's birthday.
Oh, almost forgot, can guess? Yeah, no stitching of any kind this month. Besides that it has been a busy month, but it's just too hot for me to sit down and do any kind of craft work. I really do wish we had a/c. We're thinking maybe next year.
