Vintage Workbasket Magazines

These are just a few magazines I received from my Mom last week, they're from my sister-in-law, Bev. I think either she was given these or she purchased from an estate sale, actually it's a shoebox full of them! She was going to get rid of them, but I told her to send them to me! I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them, but it's fun looking through them. I have random issues from 1953 through 1980.

Happy Pancake Day!

Well, we call it Shrove Tuesday. I usually try to make pancakes, as that is what my husband ate on the day before Ash Wednesday growing up in England. It's been awhile, but I'm going to make crepes. I haven't decided what kind to make, sweet or savory . . . maybe both? I once made crepes stuffed with chicken, mushrooms and spinach. I might have to switch that a little, though (no meat). I'll have to dust off my cookbook and get some ideas, Crepes: Sweet and Savory Recipes for the Home Cook. I'm sure I'll find something to make that everyone will enjoy.

I went to Barnes and Noble yesterday to purchase the book "Julie and Julia". I know, I know it received mediocre reveiws, but after watching the moving and all the extra features that come with the dvd, I felt I should read the book. Anway, before leaving I did a quick run through the magazine section, I'm hooked on magazines. I saw the last issue of Apronology and I just had to buy it even though it's pretty pricey for a magazine. The pictures are gorgeous and some really beautiful aprons. If you don't sew there is info on where to purchase these works of art. This is a magazine that is hard to pass up!

Hello and yes I'm still here . . .

and I can't believe we're half way through February and I have totally neglected my blog! Sorry, again. I just can't get myself to my laptop and write, but I'm going to try. Yes, I've been busy, but don't know what and certainly not worth writing about. Well, besides work, we've been watching alot of tv and movies at home, we bought a new flatscreen and bluray player. Also bought a new car! I'll write about that later with photos, it's awesome, though! Then there's been lots of cooking. Since making tamales during Christmas I have been obsessed with Mexican food! Which my husband doesn't care for and my daughter will eat sometimes, but then again she usally eats out with friends. So it's been kind of like cooking different meals that we all will eat. I guess you can say we've been nesting this winter, but with the weather warming up and the sunny skies ahead, that will all change.

I'm back cross-stitching

Well, not yet, but real soon because my daughter found a Halloween cross-stitch booklet that I thought I lost forever. So my plans are to ...
