Something to Think About

It's been a long week. I live in North San Diego county and the wildfires were on all our minds, not only it's the only news in town and covered 24/7 on TV, but the smoke and smell was horrible. Although, we are fortunate not to live in the areas where people have lost their homes and livelihoods -- my heart goes out to them. I am thankful for that, but now I'm thinking about getting all our important papers and documents together in one file box and all are photos and cherished mementos in another. I'm sure there is a list of other important items (like my laptop and the computer) and clothing, but if we ever lose our home, I'll be sad only because it's the home where my daughter has lived since she was 6 mos. old and it's the place where my DH and I have spent most our married life together in, but pretty much everything can be replaced. Yes, I'll be sad, but I know we can start over and rebuild on past memories . . . just my thoughts as this week comes to an end.

This is a good idea for all of us - even if we don't live in a fire prone area (we have earthquakes but I'm not sure how level headed I would be to run around gathering things while the earth is shaking).

I always wonder WHAT is considered important papers.
