Something to Think About

It's been a long week. I live in North San Diego county and the wildfires were on all our minds, not only it's the only news in town and covered 24/7 on TV, but the smoke and smell was horrible. Although, we are fortunate not to live in the areas where people have lost their homes and livelihoods -- my heart goes out to them. I am thankful for that, but now I'm thinking about getting all our important papers and documents together in one file box and all are photos and cherished mementos in another. I'm sure there is a list of other important items (like my laptop and the computer) and clothing, but if we ever lose our home, I'll be sad only because it's the home where my daughter has lived since she was 6 mos. old and it's the place where my DH and I have spent most our married life together in, but pretty much everything can be replaced. Yes, I'll be sad, but I know we can start over and rebuild on past memories . . . just my thoughts as this week comes to an end.

I'm Back

It's been a busy two weeks, but I think I'll be free to work on my sewing projects now and I have a lot of ideas floating in my head -- wow, all those fantastic projects everyone is working on and completing. Yes, I love to read blogs, it's an addiction that I can't help.

I'm in a good mood today, I've managed to lose 3 pounds within the past two weeks. I know, woo, 3 pounds, what's she talking about. But gaining 30 pounds after becoming a lifetime member with Weight Watchers three (or is it four) years ago, has been a big disappointment to myself. It's been a struggle to get back on track and getting older isn't helping matters. Okay, enough of that.

On Tuesday dd and I drove up to Long Beach to pick up her diploma and then visit my Aunt. She has been trying to get a hold of me for weeks and I know she wants me to make her curtains for her bedroom. So now I have the fabric and measurements and an idea what she wants. Then the next day my co-worker is telling me about this program on HGTV, "Decorating Cents", how easy it was that they made roman shades and she wants them on her sliding glass window -- wondering if I know how to make them? No, but now we are going to make them! I don't think she know how to sew, but she has a sewing machine. Which is a good thing, I think I'll be giving her lessons instead! I really don't know how to make roman shades, but I've always wanted to make them. It's a "no-sew" project, but we will be sewing them.

October

Wow, I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since my last post and October is already here! Life has been busy! I had to work split shifts last week and then again next week. Besides that a little crazy at work, then we ended up in ER Saturday night with my daughter over a cut finger, but it was a deep cut and a trash can was involved. So we thought it was best to take her to the hospital so she can also get a tetanus shot. We didn't get home until 2am! Anyway, all is well. I have been sewing here and there during the week, no major projects. Finished my Cabo Halter Top weeks ago, just never got around to taking a pic. I'm currently working on another storage case for my daughter. She made another diaper bag with changing pad for a friend and needs the changing pad storage case to go with it. I only have to sew the drawstrings and I'm done.

We went to Sowing Sisters in Carlsbad last week and I bought this beautiful Asian panel. I think it's basically for quilts, but I want to make a purse out of it. On the subject of quilts, I have been quietly reading quilting magazines and visiting quilting websites, so you'll never know what I'll be stitching up next! I use to make lap quilts and wall-hangings and thought I was finished with that phase, but maybe not.

I'm back cross-stitching

Well, not yet, but real soon because my daughter found a Halloween cross-stitch booklet that I thought I lost forever. So my plans are to ...
