I Have Wheels!

Yes, I'm on the road again, I picked up my rental car yesterday - a van, ugh, oh well, I can't be picky right now. Although, my car is still at the dealer and that's not good. I'm more than a little concerned as to how much it's going to cost us than any thing else. It's supposed to be under warranty, but that's under authorization, huh? I'm scared.

Anyway, I've been busy working, but wanting to bake for days. I managed to bake muffins this morning. Of course, I made my usual Weight Watcher muffin recipe, I like to have them in the morning while I'm at work. I'm usually so busy in the mornings that I have no time for breakfast, if I have these muffins on hand, I'm good. If not, by the time I get home at 10:30am I'm starved and I'm eating everything in sight! I won't bother with a picture or recipe, unless someone really wants it - ha!. I try to eat low cal, but I do splurge on the weekends. I work wierd hours, but tomorrow is going to be even more wierd. I work at a before and after school program and we decided to do a fundraiser tomorrow from 6 to 10pm. Yikes, that means I'm working all day. We have some fun things in store, I want to make a chocolate cake in a crockpot from scratch (I found a recipe), and my co-worker wants to make potato pancakes or something with mash potatoes. We're going to pick up a large pizza from the pizzaria across the street. Oh, we have all kinds of ideas and the kids are excited about the whole idea. I've never done a "parents night out", I hope I survive. (just kidding)

After a week I still have no car. Well, since it was the holiday weekend and that we're waiting on the approval from the warranty insurance folks, I can understand, well a little bit. In the meantime I should have a rental car tomorrow, yay! I have so many things to do and I don't like relying on other people, but my friends and neighbors have been awesome! I'm glad I don't have to run to the grocery store for anything special, I have my wine and a freezer full of food - that good enough for me.

Holiday Weekend Wrap-up

We made it safely home last night from our trip to Sacramento. The weather was absolutely beautiful driving south on I-5. Even though we left yesterday instead of today, the traffic was still pretty heavy until we got to Los Angeles, oddly enough the traffic was light, huh?. Anyway, we had a nice time as usual. This year my Mother and I were very organized with the whole Thanksgiving preparation. I don't know what happens in years past, but I think it's more of us having a little more wine than we should and then we are all frazzled by the time we set the table for dinner! This year we made sure that didn't happen and she had a list that we were going to follow! I didn't take many pictures this year, it just seems like I take pictures of the same thing every year and then it all looks the same. I did manage to take a pic of the turkey just out of the oven. Ooops, I should have removed the foil for the photo, Mom adds the foil to keep the stuffing from getting burnt.

We brought home left-overs, but my daughter managed to take the turkey and mashed potatoes and left us with yams and stuffing. I plan on making a small turkey next weekend with all the fixin's, I haven't made a turkey on my own in a long time . . . I'm looking forward to it.

Thanksgiving Week

Okay, so here I am with another monthly update. I'm still working more hours, maybe by the end of the year things will slow down. We are short staffed at work, so I'm there to help out in the afternoons. This week I'm on vacation and just trying to get caught up with stuff around the house. My car is back at the dealer with more troubles, which better be fixed by the end of the day. So I have no choice to work around the house. I cleaned and waxed (polished?) the kitchen cabinets yesterday, well half of them. So I will finish them today. Wow, it looked like I re-stained them. My husband tells me "good, we don't need new cabinets". Wrong!

Great for me, I have been at the sewing machine more than usual lately. Besides some projects for work, I also made curtains for my kitchen window. Actually, I prefer to buy a roll-up shade, but the sun shines bright into my kitchen window that the little lace valance just wasn't working out. I had some fabric and rings, so I quickly whipped up a curtain which is much better than before. My kitchen window faces south which the sun can be very bright. Of course, now we have dull days, but the sun manages to shine through. Mmm, looks sort of like a shower curtain. May have to change that look somehow. It looks crooked at the bottom because it's pinned and not hemmed! I couldn't wait to see how they look. No excuse, I have to finish them today. I also have a sliding glass door and a small window in the kitchen that needs treatment and plenty of fabric.

Tomorrow we leave very early in the morning to Sacramento for Thanksgiving. Yes, that long drive up I-5 in holiday traffic! Oh well, it's something we must do to be with our family for the holiday - on my Mother's favorite day! It will be well worth it. Okay, I must get back to cleaning, sewing, packing, etc.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello, I'm Back

and no longer a Stampin' UP! demonstrator. It's a good thing, as much as I like sharing papercrafting and products, I found it hard ...
